November 9th 1989: The Fall of the Wall in Berlin, the beginning of a new era. The 53rd Thessaloniki International Film Festival has always had an extraordinary relationship with the German cinema and presents year by year various directors of the German-speaking film scene.
This year’s festival presents films of the following directors: Andreas Dresen (Wolke 9, Sommer vorm Balkon), Lars-Gunnar Lotz (Schuld sind immer die anderen), Sylvie Michel (Die feinen Unterschiede), Markus Imboden (Der Verdingbub), Hüseyin Tabak (Deine Schönheit ist nichts wert), Ulrich Seidl (Paradies: Liebe), Tizza Covi, Rainer Frimmel (Der Glanz des Tages), Florian Flicker (Grenzgänger) and Sebastian Meise (Stilleben).
Fact of the day: It’s getting colder, winter is finally closing in. Take advantage of the last days at the film festival, go for a walk at Nikis Street and treat yourself with a delicious cup of iced coffee (aka Freddo Cappuccino). Enjoy the ocean view and you’ll witness one of the most astonishing sunsets you’ve ever seen.
